Since when do grandparents need a special day to celebrate–being a grandparent is reward enough! But, since it is National Grandparent’s Day, here is my contribution.
Our oldest grandchild is now 12, and I can still remember the first time I held him. Since then, our family has grown to 5 grandchildren–all have their own characteristics and quirks.
The joy these five little people have brought to our lives is indescribable. I’d forgotten how much was to:
- play with lego
- decorate gingerbread houses
- make forts inside the house and outside.
- hunt for Easter eggs
- make Halloween costumes (or let’s be honest, make just everyday costumes!)
- have tea parties
- and fix things with granddad
So on Grandparents day, how about hats off to grandchildren everywhere, for reminding us how to be kids again.
