Grandparent’s Day

Since when do grandparents need a special day to celebrate–being a grandparent is reward enough! But, since it is National Grandparent’s Day, here is my contribution.

The first grandkid.

Our oldest grandchild is now 12, and I can still remember the first time I held him. Since then, our family has grown to 5 grandchildren–all have their own characteristics and quirks.

All the kiddies

All the kiddies

The joy these five little people have brought to our lives is indescribable. I’d forgotten how much was to:

  • play with lego
  • decorate gingerbread houses
  • make forts inside the house and outside.
  • hunt for Easter eggs
  • make Halloween costumes (or let’s be honest, make just everyday costumes!)
  • have tea parties
  • and fix things with granddad

So on Grandparents day, how about hats off to grandchildren everywhere, for reminding us how to be kids again.
